Certain official documents, such as a birth certificate, marriage certificate, university or college transcript, status of employment, notarial deed, driver's license, etc., require an official or certified translation done by a certified translator. Many government bodies requesting a translation of these documents will require a certified translation.

A certified translation endows the translated document with the same legal extent as the original. An official stamp is placed on the translation(s) as well as the original document(s).

Business translations do not require this type of translation. That said, we do sometimes recommend them for translations of contracts, statutes, or letters of reference.
